Become a Christian

Most people have an opinion about Jesus – you probably do too. Maybe you think he was a good teacher. Maybe you think he never existed. Whatever you believe, we likely agree that Jesus changed things.

We believe that Jesus changes people, including you, and that he has paved the way back to God for you. In his own words: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

It doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. It doesn’t matter where you were born, how much money you have, or where you went to school. Jesus is the way for you to have a relationship with God. Everyone is invited, and everyone is important – no exceptions.

What do I have to do?

People in the Bible asked the very same question, and in response they were told: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved . . .” That sounds good – but what does it mean? We need to clarify this because there are a number of ideas out there about who Jesus is, and many of them don’t have anything to do with what the Bible says. This is important because our faith is only as good as who or what we put it in. If our faith is in someone/something false, then our faith is useless.

Will the real Jesus please stand up?

Believing in Jesus is more than just thinking that he once walked the earth. It means that you believe he is God in the flesh (John 1:1,14), that he died on the cross for our sins and came back from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), and that by faith we are made right before God (Romans 3:28; 4:5; 5:1).

You need to acknowledge your own sins against God (Romans 3:23), that you can do nothing on your own to earn or deserve God’s forgiveness (Isaiah 64:6),and that your sins have separated you from God (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 6:23). What is left is for you to trust that because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross you can be saved.

That’s it?

Yes. You don’t have to become a better person first. Remember that we cannot do anything to earn God’s love. He offers His love as a free gift to whoever will believe in Him – and the reason people change is because they have already experienced His love, not the other way around. We change because we are loved, not because we want to be loved.

What now?

If you believe these things and commit to following God, your life will never be the same. It’s the beginning of an incredible journey. If you’ve trusted Jesus with your life, let us know!
